ANSWERS:
Q: What
operating systems are compatible with PC-Diag Software?
PC-Diag software is composed of two types
of program: Windows and Self Booting (DOS or WinCE)
PC-Diag Windows versions are designed to run
on IBM PC/AT compatible hardware running either Win 2000, 2000 Pro, 2003, XP
or Vista. PC-Diag NIC requires Win 2000, 2003 and XP.
PC-Diag Self Booting (DOS) and Media
Tools (DOS/WinCE) versions are universal and will run on any
IBM PC/AT compatible hardware, regardless of the
installed operating system. They will even run on
systems with no operating
system or hard disk drive.
Q: Why
should I use both Windows and Self Boot diagnostics?
Individually the above software programs cannot
perform full system testing alone.
PC-Diag Windows versions diagnostic
capabilities are limited because of operating system restrictions,
however they have the advantage of being able to test components with
Windows drivers loaded.
PC-Diag Pro Self Boot (DOS) is limited
because the components cannot be tested with drivers
loaded, however it has the ability to test components
directly at the hardware level, which can't be done in
Windows.
Used together, the two applications
complement each other, offering a complete diagnostic
testing array for comprehensive testing of components, which
cannot be offered by Self Boot only or Windows only
diagnostic programs.
Q: How
do I run the DOS version?
Create
the special bootable floppy disk, insert it into the
floppy drive and boot or reboot your PC.
If
you have the CD insert it and then reboot your system.
If
you the USB Flash Drive insert and then reboot your
system.
If
the computer starts in Windows refer to the question
below:,
Q: My
computer will not boot in DOS mode, it always starts in
Windows?
Make sure your boot disk (floppy/CD/USB) is inserted before switching on or re-booting. If
the computer still starts in Windows you need to change
the boot drive sequence in BIOS setup, to do this you have
to to enter the Bios setup and edit the information as follows:
Switch on or Re-boot the pc and watch
the screen for the key to press to enter setup (usually
it's the 'Del' key, press that key while
booting.
Enter the BIOS setup and re-set the boot
order to:
1st boot: Floppy drive
2nd Boot: CD
3rd Boot USB
4th Boot: Hard Drive.
Save and exit setup, insert
the PC- Diag Boot disk, the
computer will re-boot and look for a boot disk in the
sequence you have set above, so whichever drive you
inserted your disk in, it will be found and booted from.
