POST-Probe PCI, POST Code
Diagnostic Reader Card, Diagnoses PC Hardware Problems In ANY Dead IBM
or Compatible Computer.
The
POST-Probe PCI is a universal POST Code Diagnostic Code Reader Card.
POST-Probe PCI can not only run on ANY non-booting IBM or compatible
computer hardware, it can identify the exact chip causing problems.
POST-Probe PCI comes with a comprehensive manual listing all the major
BIOS manufacturers POST Diagnostic Codes

"This
is the only card that will function in every system on the
market." (Scott Mueller From Upgrading and
Repairing PCs)
The POST-Probe PCI
is a passive P.O.S.T. Diagnostic Code reader card. Used with the
detailed technical manual, this product can help a pc technician
quickly and easily diagnose faults in ANY IBM or compatible PC
hardware failing to boot up. The POST Probe PCI card will monitor
ISA, EISA, MCA and PCI functions!
POST-Probe is the
Universal POST reader card designed to quickly and easily
troubleshoot a dead PC in a matter of minutes in 3 easy steps:
Insert the
POST-Probe card into a PCI or ISA slot
Power the system
on. After a few moments, POST-Probe will display one (or more) 2
digit error codes
Simply look the
code('s) up in the POST-Probe manual under the correct BIOS and
you'll know exactly why the pc hardware isn't booting!
Features:
UNIVERSAL COMPATIBILITY: The POST-Probe PCI POST code reader card plugs into
any IBM or compatible PCI, ISA, EISA, or Micro Channel socket.
(Micro Channel usage requires the optional Micro Channel
Adapter)
UNIVERSAL CAPABILITIES - With the
multitude of PCs on the market, the best way to be effective is
to be universal. The POST Probe PCI card has a dual edge
connector to work with either ISA, EISA OR PCI. The optional
Micro Channel Adapter works in tandem with the POST-Probe's
8-bit ISA interface, allowing the POST-Probe card to work with
any pc bus on the market. To accomplish this, POST-Probe PCI has
the ability to function on different port addresses to suit the
different bus types.
LED DISPLAYS
-
4 LED's to
monitor power supply
Another 4
LED's monitor high and low clock signals and high and low
oscillator signals, making it easy to determine synchronous
operation. LEDs are on separate circuits, making it easier
to spot the difference between clock chip and crystal
failures.
1 LED
monitors the Reset signal. This allows a reset to be seen
during POST, making it easy to spot a possible short.
2 LEDs
monitor I/O read and I/O write, distinguishing between read
and write failures. Also monitored are Memory read/write to
distinguish between address line failures and memory chip
failures. This feature is especially beneficial when working
with BIOS's that don't emit POST codes, (yes, there are
still a few around).
1 ALE LED
monitor ensures proper CPU/DMA operation.
VOLTAGE & POWER TESTING: Five
voltage pads for testing: - +5vdc, -5vdc, +12vdc, 12vdc and 3.3V
circuits on the PCI BUS - allows for power testing under load
with the use of a voltmeter (not supplied).
COMPACT DESIGN: Less bulky than other PCI/IS combo POST cards,
and helps to prevent the ISA portion from being plugged in
backwards
POST-PROBE PCI: monitors all PCI functions such as Initiator
Ready, Frame, and Device Select etc.
POST-Probe
has two hexadecimal displays that read out Bios POST codes as
described in the manual. One is mounted on each side of the card
for easy viewing.
MULTIPLE FAULT DETECTION: Unlike
many other post cards the Post-Probe PCI card will not stop at
the first fault it finds but continues until all faults have
been identified.
CYCLING BUTTONS: With POST-Probe
PCI you can 'cycle' the displays back and forward through
multiple fault codes.
COMPREHENSIVE MANUAL: The comprehensive manual covers POST procedures
for AMI, AWARD, ZENITH, CHIPS and Technologies, HEWLETT-PACKARD,
IBM, MR BIOS, PHOENIX, and XTs and DTKs. and is laid out in such
a way that on the left page appear the POST code test failures,
and on the right page is a "plain-English" description
of the exact chip or device that caused that test to fail.. Also
included is a reference section to help determine the nature of
the failure.
